Why do they call it “Catwalk?”
While pondering over a theme for our first event in 2005, we were inspired by the catwalk - the aerial bridge/walkway rising high above at HTHI (our event location). We decided to incorporate the catwalk into our theme, and chose the name Catwalk Cabaret. Our themes have evolved a bit over the years, but our signature Catwalk title, along with the cat logos, remain.
Where does the money raised go?
Each school in the High Tech High Village gets a portion and the school’s directors help us decide where the funds can best be focused. In the past Catwalk funds have paid for supplies and projects for art, drama, technology, X-blocks, and advisories. Funds have purchased additional computers, printers, digital cameras and digital storage devices that your child uses daily and have provided additional funding for science labs, graphic arts labs, sports, and music. All Catwalk supporters can be confident that every dollar was well spent and used wisely.
Are children allowed to attend?
No, this is an event designed specifically for a fun parents night out - only adults are invited to attend.
Can teachers and staff attend?
Absolutely! Admission for teachers and support staff will be sponsored by a fund set up by parent contributions. Significant others can attend for a reduced rate.
Will there be entertainment?
Yes - lots! There will be live shows, games and surprises galore! The week of the Catwalk event you will be able to view the Event Program Booklet on this Web site and get a preview of the night's special entertainment.
How can I register for this year’s Catwalk event?
Online registration is available beginning in late March. Printed invitations will be sent out in March. You may register online or return the invitation reply card by mail. Contact Lisa Ferguson, for more information.
Can I support Catwalk even if I can’t attend the event?
Absolutely! There are many ways to support our schools through Catwalk. If you can’t attend the event, we welcome your support in the following ways:
- Make a donation of an item, service, or gift certificate for our auction, or become a sponsor of our event, or place an ad in our event program. Contact Andrea Partida for more information.
- Volunteer to help plan Catwalk, or attend work parties to prepare scenery and decor. Contact Lise Bernard for more information.
- Help a teaching team to put together a Team Basket. Contact Diana Brand for more information.
Can I donate goods or services for the Catwalk auctions?
Absolutely! Download our Donation Form and Donation Letter. You may also contact Andrea Partida.
Can I help plan and organize this year’s event?
Yes, we’re always enthusiastic about help! Contact Eve Sepulveda and ask to be added to our Catwalk Committee Contact List. You will then receive email updates with meeting schedules and other info to assist you in choosing how you can help. It’s a fun, rewarding experience and we welcome all to join us!
What are Team Baskets and how can I help create one for my child’s teaching team?
Our school's teaching teams create baskets filled with interesting and useful items to be sold at the silent auction during the Catwalk event. Money earned from the sale of the baskets will go to support technology at the HTH Village schools. Teachers welcome assistance in putting Team Baskets together - so contact your teachers and volunteer to help! Contact Diana Brand for more information.
What happens at the live auction?
It’s one of the most exciting parts of our event! The item up for auction is described by the Auctioneer and a starting bid is given. Then the fun begins. As the Auctioneer raises the bids higher and higher, guests indicate their acceptance of each offered bid amount by holding up their paddle (their auction booklet which has their bid number printed very large on the back). The bidder placing the highest accepted bid is the winner of that item.
